Hi, Sigma.
As they say, Google is your friend.
When I search for "dx8vb.dll" in either Google or Microsoft's Live Search, I get plenty of hits. Since I haven't had the problem, I didn't try to check them out. If they don't answer your questions, please post back.

I have some programs on my Vista computer that won't run, saying there is a
missing file "dx8vb.dll". Sometimes there is a 9 instead of an 8, sometimes
the filename is different, but they all begin with dx and are dll files.
Reinstalling did not fix the problem. I have tried installing DirectX
updates, the DirectX SDK and DirectX run-time files, but I still get errors.
Also, when I try to change the log-in screen screensaver, the screensaver
won't run at all, or (for Vista screensavers), I get warnings that
D-something 9.1 can't be found (I'll have to check this to be sure).
Can anyone help or does anyone have suggestions? Thank you in advance.
