Re: Vista and Norton Security

Avast is an Anti-Virus, with some Anti-Malware protection as well; but no
Firewall.
But, I like Windows Firewall.

It is what suits each of us; through our experimenting.

But, I think we all agree on no to Norton, Trend or McAfee.

I fully agree to remove Norton Internet Security..........it is a hassle
program
But if Avast Anti Virus is installed does this have a Firewall as well or
are we stuck with Windows firewall?
I prefer Comodo Internet Security: http://www.comodo.com/ , they have both
on board.

I have 2 suggestions:
1. Use the above Norton Removal tool.
2. Install Avast via link below.

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Avast Anti-Virus is XP and Vista compatible (32bit and 64bit Versions),
FREE, auto-updating, and a low resources user of your computer.
And, only have 1(one) Anti-Virus installed / running on your computer at
any
one time..
Conflicts may occur if you have more than 1(one).

I'm submitting this problem to Symantec but thought I'd post it here
to see if anyone has any suggestions.

I'm setting up a new computer that came loaded with Norton Internet
Security Suite. Everything has set up fine -- loaded my applications,
imported files from my old computer (documents, spreadsheets,
websites, etc.) -- however -- when I run Norton update I get an error.

I run Norton's Live Update and the system downloads and installs
several updates, however, it will not install the updated virus
applications. Norton then asks me to connect to their tech support
for a live chat to fix the problem. When I try that, my system hangs
up and the Norton tech support application will not load -- I have to
restart the machine to get out of the application. Meanwhile, virus
definitions still have not updated.

Two days ago, when I tried to update Norton, I was able to go to live
chat and the tech told me they had a patch that would be released in
24 hours but now I can't even connect to their live chat.

Norton 2009, Vista with SP 1.

Thanks for any suggestions.
