There aren't any AFAIK. (Not NNTP anyway....)

Asking a question?
Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about,
your OS, Service Pack level
and the FULL contents of any error message(s)
I apologize. I did not think that it would be off topic since Windows 7
is more like an updated version of Vista instead of a new OS. Honestly
though, can you please give a logical explanation as to why it is such a
forbidden thing to mention Windows 7 in a Vista forum? I mean, it is the
latest release from Microsoft and I feel it should be discussed here. I
honestly do not see any negative effects that this post might have had.
I understand that there may be rules, but there should be exceptions for
topics like these. Just my 2 cents. Carry on.

The point is Windows 7 is a new OS just as Vista was to XP, and the microsoft.public.windows.vista.* newsgroups are specifically for the relevant discussion on Windows Vista, as there are other specific sets of groups for Windows XP and the server products etc.
As I pointed out Microsoft is currently proving all support and places for you to discuss Windows 7 via the online communities forums.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/w7itpro/
Yeah, a forum where you have to put up with the horrible web interface, sign in with an MS account and endure censorship.
Irrespective of what you think of the interface that is the appropriate Microsoft lead forum for the discussion of Windows 7 - if you do not like it and want to go somewhere with a different interface there are other forums out their , but if you want your comments to be read and potentially replied to by Microsoft staff involved in the Windows 7 program then those forums at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/w7itpro/
are the place to do it.
As regards your so called "censorship" well post may be remove as they can from the primary originating host of this newsgroup if they are deemed to be in breach of the rules of conduct etc (additional post that are defamatory about other posters, advertising, contain swearing etc may also be removed - again just as they can be here - but obviously not all servers honor a removal in an NNTP newsgroup whereas a singularly controlled web forum can have its polices enforced.)
I see no problem with using a passport account such as a hotmail address to sign into the Microsoft communities just as many other forums require a unique local account for sing in, at least a passport account is yours alone and you do not have to give personal information to some random web forum etc.
The negative effect of any off-topic post is that you are filling up the newsgroup with off topic posts and responses etc, just as other posters here insist on off topic posts about other third party operating systems etc. It is the thin end of the edge if you start accepting the practice of off-topic posts to a group.
This very post is Off Topic according to you because your post is about where to post, not Vista.
Indeed it is, as it was right from the original post. (and as many of yours are advocating other operating systems etc)
These groups all have a specific focus and you are expected to stick to them as outlined in the rules of conduct at
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/conduct/default.mspx
Those rules only apply if you use MS' web interface or MS' servers. In short, those rules are impotent.
Obviously you have never actually read them otherwise you would see that they apply to both web and newsgroups that Microsoft operate under the communities umbrella.
So please by all means post and discuss Windows 7, but do it in the correct place where you can discuss it with your like minded individuals and where Microsoft staff may monitor the posts etc for feedback and comment.
LOL! Who the hell are you to tell people what to do?
I think you will find that is what is known as advice -and guidance which is one of the primary purposes of these Microsoft communities.

As an aside are you going to retain your current visible e-mail address so that when people PLONK you, you stay PLONK'd ?
