Re: Vista not installing on newly formated disk

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

::Hi Richard, thanks heaps for trying to help.::
::I couldn?t find a way in BIOS to disable the DVD drive so I
disconnected the cable from the drive and after rebooting BIOS is now
reporting CD/DVD Drive \"No Optical Drive\". So far so good.::
::Unfortunately the pc does still not boot. Remember the original
installation of Vista was never completed. ::
::All I get now is a black screen with the cursor blinking top left. ::

Go into the bios and remove the DVD drive from the boot options
temporarily.
The system will not look for it and you should be able to boot off the
hard
drive.

After you have successfully booted to the Desktop the first time,
remove the
disk and reboot. Again enter the bios and restore your DVD drive as a
boot
option. Make sure it is "prior" to looking for the hard drive.

Please help, I think I have dug myself into a big hole.
There were bad virus issues I could not get on top with (CA Security
Suite did not do its job) and I decided to re-format the HDD.
Vista seemed to install fine
"Copying Windows files"
"Expanding files"
"Installing features"
"Installing updates"
till the last step "Completing installation" - where it needed to
reboot.
It powers down ok but when it trys to boot again it freezes at a
black
screen with the message "press any key to boot from CD or DVD".
I have tried to turn the system on and off several times but can't
get
beyond the "press any key message".
What can I do to get the Vista installation finalised?

Motherboard Intel DG33TL
Processor Core2 Duo E6550
Hard Drive Seagate 320 GB Sata2
Optical LG 18x Sata Dual
USB keyboard - there is no PS2 port
OS Vista Home Premium

Thank you heaps for your help.
