I have managed to resolve the problem by the following method:-
1. Place the Vista installation disk in the disk drive and start the PC.
2. Press any key when the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." appears.
3. Choose the "Repair" option.
4. Now click "Next".
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
6. Type Bootrec?Rebuildbcd, then press ENTER.
This process rebuilt my Boot Configuration Data (BCD) and everything now works well.
I hope this helps anyone else suffering from the same problem.

Every time I start my 32 bit Vista Ultimate system part way through the boot process up pops Windows Boot Manager to tell me:-
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disk and restart your computer.
2. choose your language settings, then click "Next."
3. click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance>
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
After loading my installation disk and selecting the repair option, an error is quickly identified and corrected. The system then boots and runs properly. However, the next time I boot my PC I have to go through the same process again. To test the claim that a recent hardware or software change might be the cause, I have restarted the PC immediately after completing a boot and the same thing happens.
Can anyone please offer a solution to this puzzling problem?
