Re: ubuntu 8.10 is fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

yes but ubuntu found the driver for my desktop 9400GT card and asked me if I wanted the nvidia (non opensource driver)... all I had to do is say yes ... I didn't even need to restart the machine,
with ALT+CTRL+ backspace I restarted X and I had the latest drivers!

On my laptop it was easier than that.. I didn't need to install any driver manually.. it had found the one the laptop needed and it installed it by itself, that gave me compriz emerald 3d enviornment...

works suprubly well...

I don't DARE install vista on that laptop.. lol although its 2.8 single core, 2 gigs of ram, it will be slow as a snail with vista...

I have seen dual core laptops STRUGGLE with vista.. its so DARN FAT!

On my 4 core desktop with 6 gb of ram vista works fast... but not everyone can get new computers just because MS was SLOPPY in making a FAT VISTA with no real reason!

They are putting vista on a diet now and making windows7.. lets see if they can slim it down

ubuntu 8.10 is fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No this is not another linux troll post.. I am mostly a windows user... but I just love this new version of ubuntu ibex 8.10

first of all it installed on my hard disk using wubi so I didn't need to partition my disk.. then every single hardware was identified and installed, without me needed to do anything!!!!!!!!
I tried playing various video and audio formats.. whenever if found a media it couldn't play it downloaded the codec package automatically!
Now it plays anything I can throw at it.

Guys this is far more advanced than windows!

That Ubuntu c.{2}p really surprised me today, suddently failing to recognize my video card. Guess what, Windows have no problems with it. So deduction says that problem is... Ubuntu! So the question arise, who would need such "stable" operating system?

With Windows, you need to install drivers for a graphics card. Same thing with Ubuntu. Click on Administration/Hardware Drivers. If you've lost Compiz, go to Preferences/Appearance/Visual Effects tab.
