When you have no real purpose for graphics cards...I guess linux got
compiz.

When I say 3d desktop I mean a desktop that is accelerated by the chip
in the GPU.
Vista has it apple has it and ubuntu has it.

The rest of the desktop looks flat...icons,toolbars, menus.....linux
and graphics are an oxymoron.

WTF.. you can install any theme you want with ubuntu and make it look
like a mac or vista...
most people wouldn’t be even able to tell the difference!

No one into PC graphics thinks linux....not one person.

I am into graphics. I have been for 10 years, into computer graphics and
I have been an top animator and artist for 16 years. I don’t use linux,
because I use adobe products. But if I wanted to I could use linux...
people do great things with gimp...

and must I tell you that DreamWorks that creates the best animated films
with computers uses linux...

DreamWorks Animation probably has the world’s largest rendering farm for
producing 3D animations. A typical movie like Shrek 3 consumed a total
of 20 million CPU render hours, so even though they have more than 3000
server CPUs and 1000 desktops it takes quite a lot of time to render all
the frames. Here’s an interesting article from Linux Journal about the
DreamWorks Animation studio.
