Re: Changing motherboard only... process question

Having recently changed out my husband's motherboard and CPU, I let Vista boot and sortr itself out. To be complete surprise, although the boot took longer than normal, when it finished everything was perfectly fine.

I went from a Dual Core Intel and MSI board (with DDR RAM) to a Quad Core with ATI chipset, with DFI Lanparty board and DDR2 RAM with Intel P35 chipseet..... and quite honestly you can't get more of a change than that.

I am considering changing my AM2 motherboard to support the AMD Phenom
"Black" series AM2+ processors (or wait for the AM3+ series). I do not
want to change my HDD and I do plan on staying with Gigabyte.

Question: If I swap out my motherboard and reconnect everything to it,
will I have boot problems? (I know I might need to re-register Vista,
but that's OK with me)

In the past, I used to format and reload everything. However, this
configuration is stable and I don't want to go through the effort of
having to re-install everything if I can get around it.

Present configuration:
Home made system | CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ | Mobo: Gigabyte
GA-M59SLI-S5 | RAM: 2048 MB (Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400PRO) | Video: 1x
XFX - nVIDIA GeForce 8800GT (w/512 MB DDR3 | OS: Microsoft Windows
Vista Business SP1
