That said, due to VERY HIGH DEMAND, you may have to be patient. I used the Oxford University mirror and it downloaded just fine. That was a few hours ago and now all servers are busy due to VERY HIGH DEMAND.

This is hardly a feature..

"The 71 and 96 series of proprietary nVidia drivers, as provided by the nvidia-glx-legacy and nvidia-glx packages in Ubuntu 8.04, are not compatible with the X.Org included in Ubuntu 8.10. Users with the nVidia TNT, TNT2, TNT Ultra, GeForce, GeForce2, GeForce3, and GeForce4 chipsets are affected and will be transitioned on upgrade to the free nv driver instead. This driver does not support 3D acceleration."

And Vista supports those chipsets?

No, Vista doesn't, but isn't one of the 'selling points' of Ubuntu that one can make use of old hardware?

Try using a GeForce6 AGP 256MB card on Vista.

I presume that you have read the release notes thoroughly. Do you still wait for the CD before you install?

Nope, I downloaded and burned it to a CD earlier today.

I use a PCIe GeForce 256mb card in my Vista machine. Should there be a problem with it, because mine runs fine..
