Alias is getting one big hard-on because a new version of Ubuntu is
coming out. Still the same old crap. Ubuntu won't run any of the
popular programs. Ubuntu is still Free. Ubuntu still sucks.

Nobody in their right mind would want to use Ubuntu.

What you can do with Ubuntu:

Email - Very simple e-mails

"Very simple e-mail"? Would you please elaborate on that? What is a "not
very simple e-mail"?

Surf the web - Even Ubuntu can surf the web

Quite flawlessly.

Burn CDs. - Lots of trouble

Odd, I've gone through a stack of over 100 CD's burned successfully. DVDs
as well. Matter of fact, it's a lot easier than under windows. I can
simply right click an ISO and select "Burn"...

Rip CDs. - Maybe with help

Yea, pushing the button to open the CD tray, inserting the CD, and
pushing the button to close the tray again can be a difficult task. Even
more difficult is simply clicking the "Rip" button that is automatically
offered when the Audio CD is detected.

Trying to rip my Audio CD's under windows with it's media player on the
other hand is a nightmare as it can't handle the Japanese artist names,
track names, etc.

Listen to music. - Yea, from your IPOD

Isn't that what an IPOD was designed for? On that note, I'm listening to
some of my music right now which unlike Windows Media player, Rhythmbox
actually can properly handle. What I mean by that is, the music is from
Japan and has Japanese song names, artist names, etc. Windows Media
Player falls flat on its face dealing with that.

Watch vidoes/DVDs. - From your TV. Not from Ubuntu

Again, isn't a TV designed for that exact purpose? That said, I don't own
a TV and quite successfully watch DVDs from Ubuntu all the time. Matter
of fact, I don't have to worry about region coding either which REALLY
comes in handy when you own DVDs from 3 different regions.

Scan and print. - Using your multi function printer.

Again, isn't this what multi-function printers are designed for? On that
note, I print from Ubuntu. Daily.

Spreadsheets. - You can calculate up to 100 numbers

Hmmm, odd then that I've dealt with spreadsheets that had a few thousand
numbers.

Presentations - If you like stick figures Newsgroups.

No frigging clue how well the Open Office presentation stuff works. Never
used it.

HTML editing. - Yes, basic TEXT editing of an HTML file can be done.

Hint: HTML is a basic text file. Anyone that actually has a frigging clue
what they are doing doesn't actually use "What you see is what you *might
(if you're lucky)* get" editors. There are some very excellent HTML
editors available, Bluefish for instance.

Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc. - That's it for
games. Limited

Agreed there, games are limited. Though, WINE support is beginning to be
quite good. Playing some EQ2 right now. Lunch break =)

Make videos. - Very basic videos. Maybe 2 min in length before system
crashes.

Never do video editing regardless of operating system so can't comment on
that.

What you can't do with Ubuntu:

REAL WORK

Really? Can't?

Well would you please explain to me then how I'm doing real work with a
Dell Powerdge server sitting next to me right now running Ubuntu Server?

My workstation as well is running Ubuntu and I use it for my work daily
and very successfully. Matter of fact, I have by far less problems with
Ubuntu and my work than I do with Windows. Shit, windows can't most the
time correctly recognize Microsoft's own keyboard!

Matter of fact, if I want my productivity to decrease by more than 50%
all I gotta do is boot into windows. Visual Studio is pathetic compared
to the latest Eclipse.
