Yes, but which 50%?
A general user may have Yahoo or MSN Messenger installed. They may
use Yahoo Messenger to get into Yahoo chat.
If they have problem, they call up their friends to help get it
fixed. Suggesting that they use anything other than Yahoo or MSN
doesn't work. They want what there friends use..
There are other instances similar to this..
Both Yahoo and Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger no longer
exists; please try to keep up) can be configured in Pidgin along with
AIM, ICQ and many more.
These sweeping generalities about what someone will or will not
do/need with their computer are just masked FUD crap from ill
informed "MVP"s and their fanbois.

OK, Windows Live Messenger.. pretty much the same thing, which is what
users want.. the same as their friends are using..
Yahoo Messenger has more users, and I can tell you straight that they
will not swap to Pidgin, Trillian or anything else..
Does Pidgin get them access to Yahoo chat? If not, it is as good as
useless..
And don't feed me any crap about mIRC chat.. These people want Yahoo
and Yahoo chat
Yes Trillian is the one I couldn't remember.......
'TrillianT is a fully featured, stand-alone, skinnable chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo
Messenger, and IRC. It provides capabilities not possible with original network clients, while supporting
standard features such as audio chat, file transfers, group chats, chat rooms, buddy icons, multiple
simultaneous connections to the same network, server-side contact importing, typing notification,
direct connection (AIM), proxy support, encrypted messaging (AIM/ICQ), SMS support, and privacy
settings.'
IRC ? People still do that ?! I stopped doing that 10 years ago.
I dumped AIM a long time ago for Trillian....but haven't used it in a long time nor have it installed on this
new PC, which is why I couldn't remember the name.
The big problem is with people and attitudes, not necessarily with the technology.
mIRC is alive and well, albeit not quite used as much since the demise of the Microsoft servers.
Trillian is ok but as said, people who use Yahoo get help from each other in many cases, and so the client needs to be the same otherwise they can't help each other..
Funny, I can communicate with Windows users with Pidgin when they are using Windows so you were saying?
I have also found that users of Yahoo are not interested in MSN, AIM, or ICQ, and those who are prefer to keep their messenger lists separate..
You must have a limited amount of friends. I know quite a few people who use Live, AIM and Yahoo Messenger. ICQ died when AOL bought it.
Just the way people are, I guess..
Generalizations by definition are incorrect. You better quit now before you stuff your foot in your mouth more than you already have.
Get lost troll.
Once again Frank cannot address content and can only spew lies, insults, profanity and bluster. In addition, he thinks he's the junk yard mongrel who's been assigned the job of hall monitor here. LOL! He is so mistaken! It's funny to watch him growl and snarl, though.

More of your lies and denials? Figures! Face it ***, you are what we all say you are...a lying linux troll.
Get lost loser.
