Both Yahoo and Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger no longer exists; please try to keep up) can be configured in Pidgin along with AIM, ICQ and many more.

I know many users who preferred MSN Messenger and I know others that are delighted with the Live Messenger eye candy. I also know that this program is one of the main sources for malware, something that Pidgin doesn't have a problem with.


Yahoo Messenger has more users, and I can tell you straight that they will not swap to Pidgin, Trillian or anything else..

I am a Yahoo Messenger user. I guess your sweeping generalizations only apply to the people living on your street.

If you mean invite to a conference, yes. Windows Yahoo Messenger has no direct access to Yahoo chat. I can see that you are, again, making things up as you go along.

The won't get it using Yahoo Messenger. They will have to do like everyone else does and open a browser and go to Yahoo chat. As you should know, Ubuntu comes with a browser.

Yes, I do and I obviously know more about it than you do.

Living in Spain, you probably don't have too many in Yahoo chat, but the US, UK and Australia have plenty..

The Spanish visit all kinds of chats, including Yahoo's chat. Live Messenger is the preferred IM app here though.
