how to search in Vista

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I'm having trouble with searching in Vista. For instance I want to find a
string in any .doc file in a directory. XP was very simple as it allowed me
to search for *.doc and put a string in another box. It would show me all
..doc files that had that string. Life was simple.

Now Vista will let me specify parts of a file name but the box that took a
string is gone. Seems to be replaced with a Tag box. How can I find what I
want?

I googled all around to the vista sites and they had help on practically
everything in vista - except search.

Is there anyplace that will educate someone on the arcane Vista search?
Thanks,
Gary
