trying out Windows Vista. I was determined to approach it with an
open mind, ignoring all of the nay-saying I'd been hearing for the
past year or so, and to give it a fair chance.
Well, after six weeks of working with it, including lots of web
surfing to find out how to turn off all the annoying, intrusive
"features", and configure it to my liking, after six weeks of
replacing my critical hardware components (sound card, audio recording
interface) with 64-bit compatible versions, after six weeks of
downloading new drivers and new versions of my most important
programs, all I can say is: What a complete and utter piece of crap!
I'm not going to bother reiterating each specific issue - but
apparently all of the stability, usability, and compatibility problems
reported all over the web are completely accurate.
At this moment I'm downloading AN ILLEGAL COPY of XP-64 - If you don't
like that, Microsoft, too fucking bad! Refund the money I wasted on
your bogus new product, make the old one available legally, and then
maybe I'll buy it.

Good luck on getting your money back from either Best Buy or Microsoft.

In the meantime, I'll add my voice to the myriad of others out there
trying to warn the public about this abomination!
If I weren't so heavily invested in PC software, I'd just switch to
Linux or a MAC.
