I guess I should have specified - when I said anti virus, that also
included
malware, trojans, worms, viruses, etc. The resident antivirus - Trend
Micro -
along with 2 online programs - came up with nothing.

I have run a
registry clean up. I've gone back to a restore point before I noticed
the
problem. This happens whether I am connected to the internet or not.
Safe
Mode does not make a difference. I have searched the internet for
similar
problems & found one person on About.com having the identical problem,
but
there was no solution.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Dell computer. I use brand name
equipment & software & stay away from shareware & the like.

Does anyone have any ideas?
