Since IE still functions OK, and this is more of an annoyance than anything

Have you checked out IE8 BETA to see if it does the same thing?

No more fix ideas. You, I, and many others are seeing this on shutdown. It
seems to be a hardware driver problem with some current update. You could
pull out updates one at a time till it fixed, then add back all but that
one. My take on it is to just wait for MS to issue a fix/improved update.
I'm going to give it a few weeks more, and then remove the problem update
myself.

I ran the suggested scan/repair function twice, but the IE problem still
persists. There seems to be no report generated anywhere stating what
caused the problem.

Any other ideas?

Suddenly, IE doesn't shut down normally as it always has in the past.
This occurs with the Close Window X, the File/Close pulldown, or
R-Click on the Task Bar item/close. Instead of simply shutting down, I
get the "This program has stopped working, Windows is checking for a
solution" routine every time. Since it only happens when I'm trying to
shut it down anyway, it isn't a real problem, but it's annoying and
shouldn't be happening.

MSIE 7 ver.7.0.6001.18000
Vista Home Premium w/SP-1

Any suggestions?

Thanx,

Buddha
