Since his computer came with home premium 64 bit, he has no driver problems - except for his desired older hardware. His main concern is likely finding programs that can take full advantage of the 64 bit computer he has purchased.

Hi Steve,

Stick with what you have unless you have software specifically written to take advantage of 64-bit processing and have more than 4GB of memory.

Are there features in Ultimate that you need or require? If not, there is no point to spending money on the upgrade.

As to the other issue, that of the availability of 64-bit drivers, you should check with the manufacturer to ensure they are available. But again, unless you have software that is written to take advantage of it, upgrading will not serve to enhance your user experience.

Hello,

I just purchased a new computer which came pre-installed with Vista
Home Premium 64 bit. I was a little apprehensive to go with Vista
after everything that I've read and heard, but I had no choice since
the computer that I wanted was only available with Vista.

Before I begin loading all of my software and setting up my
peripherals, I was thinking about upgrading the OS to Vista Ultimate,
but I'm not sure if I should go 32 bit or 64 bit. I have read that
there are still many companies with no software or drivers for the 64
bit version. Is this accurate or hype?

Lastly, I was interested in the group's thoughts regarding whether I
should just stick with Home Premium 64bit or go to Ultimate and if I
do go to Ultimate, would the 32 or 64 bit version set me up for more
or less headaches throughout the process.
Thanks in Advance!!!
Regards,

Steve B.
