For my system, the real fix - with SP1 - was updating the video driver. I did have to look a bit to get one that works properly.

near the top there is a
View and request Hotfix downloads link.
MS will send you the fix and you will need a password they
will also give you to install it.
It comes via E-mail and will have the password
also.
