Vista Ultimate ....I was the administrator on my computer. This evening I plugged in a picture viewing digital photo album via USB port and clicked on the program which would not open with the shortcut. I went to Open Programs and it opened but said I could not run it because I was not an administrator. It was in C:\Programs. My pictures are in H:. I went to add/remove programs and removed the program. I could not get the shortcut off the desktop so I rebooted. I had difficulty getting back in because of my bluetooth. I tried to reinstall the little cd program and got an error
"unexpected error:" Please check file access permissions. The instillation will be terminated". Then Program Compatibility popped up and I tried to run it with that and got the same error. (I was able to install it yesterday without any problem.

I went to computer Management: and it says that ASPNET ASP.NET MACHINE ACCOUNT is the administrator. account used for running the process (aspnet_wp.exe). I tried to put myself back in as administrator but the third step asked me for the path to who I am and I don't know that.

I googled ASPNET AND it has something to do with setting up web sites. I don't have a web site and I am not setting up a website.

Can anyone help me here? Thanks.

The ASPNET accounts are from the .Net Framework versions. There are now three versions of the .Net Framework, 1.1, 2, and 3. Unlike service packs, they are not cumulative. Apps written for one version aren't necessarily going to run on any other. They do create a system account. You don't use that account directly.

Do you need them? Maybe yes, maybe no. In any case, it's not likely that these are related to your problems unless you don't have them and the program you need requires them.

You might try running System Restore to a point before this error occurred.

You can't set administrator permissions from an account that doesn't have them.
