Thanks for that referral. I'm asking here because I want to be sure of Vista

Agent Ransack what you want the download. The MS search function is
useless to me.
I put files into folders. I on occassions lose stuff as it isn't clear
to were
the file downloaded to. I never remember the file name but rather its
size and time and date. I previously used Filefind which gone.
Agent Ransack is "life saver."

Baloney. So-called "Search" is visible everywhere in Vista (checked the
upper right of your folders recently?). It's also a basic part of the
"Vista" style start menu, (look at that bar just above the Start button.
That's a "Search" bar.) "Legacy" style Start menu(s) will show a Search
button that takes you directly to Advanced Search, instead of having to
start with the really stupid part. That's nice, but just barely an
improvement. You still have to start with "Stupid Search" before it will
allow you to access Advanced parameters. But, as I said, that's not really
"Search", it's "Filter". And it just plain sucks all the way around.
There's
not a single nice thing can I say about Vista "Filter".

Search is not missing. It's just not shown. Google got stroppy about
it or something, and MS had to remove the Search button from the Start
menu.

Just press the WinKey + F et voilà - Search.
