How about select Windows Basic instead of Windows Aero under Color
Scheme ?
Hey guys, I not only set it to Windows Basic but used Windows Vista and a few other settings and the same transparency. So I changed it back to My Current profile and noticed that the photo that I selected for my background "disappeared" so I reinstated the photo but am back to where I was when we started (13 threads ago).
Is there anything that I might have inadvertently changed? I don't remember changing anything but that does not mean that I didn't change something. I think we would all agree that this is way MORE "complicated" that it should be!
Thanks for your help,
Bob
Reading your comments and the replies you got I'm not sure what you're
trying to accomplish. Aero is just some dinky gee wiz effect that
Microsoft hyped the crap out of that does next to nothing.
It's purpose is to make a window's Title bar semi-transparent allowing
the contents of what's underneath in some other window to bleed
through. Unlike Adobe's Flash which can apply Alpha channels to
produce all kinds of real and interesting graphical effects, Microsoft
dropped the ball as any person familiar with computer graphics will
tell you. It's next to useless as implemented and causes text
underneath to usually appear muddy and often be unreadable, so what
Microsoft was thinking with this "feature" is confusing.
As to what you're seeing, no clue what happened. All I can tell you is
when Aero is enabled it severely restricts what you can do with colors
blocking some adjustments that were possible under XP forcing you to
choice non Aero color schemes. Many in this newsgroup have already
complained about the highlight feature in Aero where the highlight
color is a pale blue making the highlight difficult to see on some
displays, especially some laptops.
This is just another in a long list of changes made in Vista that seem
changed simply for the sake of changing something to justify the cost
of upgrading rather than changing something for the better.
It's easy to see from your insultingly ignorant reply that you don't know what Aero is nor do you really use your computer in a stressful, productive manner.

Fact is, Ubuntu had this long before Vista with Beryl...
Sorry mr liar, but that 'flipping' cube is a toy...just like urbuttoo is just a toy...a real POS toy os for broke losers like you.
Um, the cube is only a small part of Compiz, formerly Beryl. It has everything that Aero has and more. And it has had it loooooooooong before Vista was a gleam in Steve Ballmer's conning eyes. Oops.
Snip ill informed drivel.

More of your lies?
Get lost troll!
Nope but you would have to have installed Ubuntu with Compiz to know and you're too stupid to install Ubuntu, much less Compiz. Anyone who has installed and used it knows that what I say is spot on.
Live with it, troll, MS innovates *nothing* and buys as much as it can because they aren't capable of doing it themselves, e.g., Yahoo and Beryl/Compiz.

More of you lies!
Figures!
You are a lying linux troll, troll.
Get lost!
