provide with
their product. Products such as Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo
Messenger
include web cam support, but no drivers.

Does Windows Vista have any built-in webcam support?

Drivers?
Monitoring Software?

I have a webcam but i'm reluctant to install software that is not
essential - the software that came with it is too crappy but i can't
find
any Microsoft webcam software in Windows Vista ( Premium) - i was a
bit
suprised that Win Movie Maker doesn't support webcam input

Kinda dumb for a 'new' OS that has everything but the kitchen sink. I
can plug a web cam in, Vista says 'Oh EZCAM III' and loads the driver.
Yet I cant do anything with the camera. Plug a microphone into the sound
card, open up sound recorder and record sounds to my delight, no drivers
nothing extra to make windows sound recorder 'more' compatible with my
sound card. So why did the engineers not think to add a way to capture
images from a web cam. How hard could it be? Seems like w95, w98 and XP
used a file called AMCap to provide a means of recording webcams. What
happened to it in Vista? Lets provide a multimedia experience but they
overlooked the webcam. Tsk tsk.

you might want to experiment with other third party video recorder capture programs. Some disc burn software adds the video editor in their suite. Check with the manufacturer of the cam for custom drivers to enable use of video editors/compositors with your cameras.
