Vista Sync Center

For several years I have relied heavily on my HP Journada Handheld computer to keep notes, tasks, contacts, etc in sync with Outlook on my XP desktop using Activesync.
I recently upgraded my XP system to Vista Ultimate and realize that Activesync won't work with Vista. To date, I have been unable to get the handheld to sync with Vista's Sync Center. When I connect the handheld to the Vista system it seems to recognize the devise and installs the driver software automatically (HP USB Sync 1611) but will not allow me to set up a partnership. There seems to be no option t connect to my handheld device, only offline files and flash drives.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Michael
