After i login to windows a minute later the screen dims, kind of like when you get a user account control message, but it never gets bright again. Is there anything i can do. I tried system restore in case it was a recent update and that didn't work. The mouse cursor is still normal brightnesss so its not the video card or LCD. Very strange hope you can help me!!

Does the system still work otherwise? If it does work, it may be that a power control profile is loading that includes a less-bright monitor setting.
