Don't even bother trying. You'll wind up with a horribly unstable system. Swap hardware and either clean install or repair install.

Any body been able to keep vista intact through a mother board swap. Might
have to switch from amd based board to intel based board.
I have done xp in the past with some registry hacks that microsoft had
posted on their site once but they claimed they did not recommend. They
worked does anyone know if the same hacks could be applied to a vista
registry with drivers for new board moved over in correct directory.
Basically what I am asking can the hard drive controllers be reinitalized.
