Hi aquariusmoon,
Hit ctrl+shift+escape to open task manager. On the applications tab, click new task. Type 'regedit' and click ok to open the registry editor. Go to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Locate the shell entry in the right pane and double click it. Replace the contents with just:
explorer.exe
Click ok, then close the registry editor and restart the system.

:confused:I am posting about a friend's computer, I don't know the exact
wording of the message. It is windows vista 32bit home premium. Three
different times at log-on it has given an error that the desktop profile
could not be found. This was not following a crash or anything. It
would still load some icons, two of the three times the wallpaper
loaded. After a reboot it seems fine except once it lost all contents
of a notezilla (a third party sticky not program). Does anyone have any
ideas what might fix this before it happens again and eats more notes
(or something worse)?
