I have Vista Home premium, if that matters.

Right click the taskbar -> Properties -> Notification Area tab

On that tab is a series of checkboxes under "System Icons", one of
which
being "Network". Prior to installing SP1, I was able to access that
setting
w/o difficulty. Now, I don't know that SP1 is the culprit but what I'm
experiencing is that checkbox is greyed out. In fact, it is the only
checkbox that is greyed out; Clock, Power and Volume are all
accessible. So
I'm curious, why am I not allowed to check it and put the network icon
back
in my notification area? I'm set up as an administrator and I have UAC
turned off. Is there some way I can reinstate the ability to un/check
this
setting? Is there another way I can get the network icon back in to my
notification area?

thnx,
Christoph

Hello Christoph,

This tutorial may help you out. Just do the option to enable the
Network icon.

Hope this helps,
