Re: Turning off warnings

Any one who makes a statement as insulting as "Umm yes. Systems Accountant in three major UK public companies - windows user since 3.11. Presumably before you were born." without any knowledge of the background and age of the person they are addressing brings into question their own credibility. You are stereotyping, which is something a person with experience learns to avoid. You have a view based on your work experience over the last 20 years, which you are applying to the home computer environment. In a commercial situation more rigorous security arrangements are justified and necessary. However, in a domestic situation these recommendations do not carry the same weight of argument. Many home users have been coping with security issues for years, when UAC was not available, with few problems. A security system does not protect where the operator lacks judgment.

I deal with large businesses on a daily basis. They are just as likely to make a major mistake as a sole proprietor. The only difference seems to be the larger the business the larger the unnoticed error. Systems are no substitute for a skilled workforce and management that responds to change. The financial pages of newspaper are littered with examples of losses in businesses where there are sophisticated security procedures in place.

That was a foolish outburst.

Umm not at all. The "person" I was replying to posted this:
So don't try to use your limited experience as a
benchmark to what more technically proficient users have experienced.
You're way out of your league.

I was just informing the idiot that I probably have far more experience than he does.

And I'm sorry Gerry, but yet again you re-enforce my opinion that FCA's have NO knowledge of Systems and Management Accounting. So don't try to pretend that you do. You're a record maker - no more no less.
