OK, I'll ask you. Tell us oh wise master, what is the consequence of
deleting a desktop shortcut that unbelievably dumb UAC has flagged as
a security risk? I await your answer breathlessly.

My breathless answer is that in my STANDARD account, I don't GET a UAC
message when I delete ANYTHING from MY desktop.

Jerk.

Well dummy, in my standard account I've seen it happen more times then
I care to remember. So don't try to use your limited experience as a
benchmark to what more technically proficient users have experienced.
You're way out of your league.

Umm yes. Systems Accountant in three major UK public companies - windows user since 3.11. Presumably before you were born.
