If they are intent on deleting files without regard as to what the
consequences might be then no amount of warning messages will stop them.
OK, I'll ask you. Tell us oh wise master, what is the consequence of
deleting a desktop shortcut that unbelievably dumb UAC has flagged as
a security risk? I await your answer breathlessly.
I'm sorry, but there seems to be so many computer illiterate people
that infest this newsgroup, we may as well have some fun with them.
For the uninformed, especially Frank's Useful Idiots Club members:
A shortcut is nothing but a link. It serves no purpose other than to
point to some file. Sometimes when deleting some application you no
longer want any shortcut that points to same gets left behind on the
Desktop and you need to delete it manually. UAC has been know to throw
up Security Warnings over such stupid situations.
Anyone that has just rudimentary knowledge about how Windows works
understands deleting such a orphaned link is 100% harmless. Hint:
Whatever it was pointing to is ALREADY gone. So the link is broken,
and doesn't work. Deleting the shortcut is simple housecleaning.
Yet fanboys, fools and fuckwits none the less whine those of us
pointing out all the dumb things Vista does are the ones that don't
understand.
Priceless!
