Hi all,
This isn't a big deal but it can be quite irritating.
I have a brand new machine with Windows Vista Business running on it.
This is the main machine in the study and has a Belkin router
connected to it via a cat5 cable. The rest of the PCS/Laptops in the
house run from the routers wireless.
Everything is set up and internet explorer loads automatically on each
machine.
However, on this newer machine, when I click on Internet Explorer, it
takes around 8-10 seconds to load the homepage, i.e google. On all of
the other machines, its pretty much instant. The other machines are
running XP/Vista Home and Vista Basic. They all load the webpage
instantly.
This newer machine takes a while and shows "Connecting" in the tab. I
have never experienced this before and wondered what it could be. I
have tried making a few changes but it does it every time. Once google
has loaded, and i click a new tab, the same happens again, it takes
about 10 seconds for a new homepage to load.
We have been using the same router in the house for 3 years and i've
never seen a machine act like this.
Is there something I'm missing?
Many thanks,
Ben
Ben,
do you have the Google toolbar selected on that PC ? If so try with the
toolbar de-selected.
I believe there is a problem with Google's toolbar supposedly fixed in
the Beta V5. There is chat to this effect in a Google forum. I have
the same effect but just manage without the toolbar for the moment.
Then again, if you don't use it . . .
Tom
