Hi there,
when I export (Save as) a Visio 2007 diagram as a PNG or GIF image, the
transparent areas become white (and therefore not transparent !) on the
image. The export wizard prompts me for choosing a color for the transparent
areas, and I don't check the checkbox, so I would expect to stay with these
transparent areas...
I think this is because of the different meanings that transparency
have in Visio and GIF/PNG files.
In Visio individual shapes (or even just parts of shapes within
grouped shapes) can be transparent, you can also make whole layers
transparent. This allows one shape to be seen through others. The
transparency can also set from 0 to 100%.
With PNG/GIF it's a colour index which can be made transparent, the
transparency doesn't make other parts of the image visible, but any
other image behind.
