\viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs20 Hi Xirx,
\par
\par You have to define a "name" in your excel *** if you want to see the table name in the "Database Wizard".
\par
\par - In your Excel ***, select all the cells that are required for linking.
\par
\par - With the selection highlighted, click on "Insert" menu
\par
\par - Select "Name" > "Define"; type a name [Example: MyTable] for "Names in workbook" and click OK
\par
\par - Save and close the excel file.
\par
\par If you run Database Wizard in Visio after the above given steps, you can see a table name displayed in the Database Wizard.
\par

\par Hi!
\par
\par I am trying to link a shape in an existing drawing to data base, i.e. an
\par Excel File.
\par I do:
\par
\par Tools->Add Ons->Viso Extras->Database Wizard
\par Next
\par Select "Link shapes to database records"
\par Next
\par Select "Shape(s) in a drawing"
\par Next
\par Select a Shape
\par Next
\par Select "Excel Files"
\par Next
\par Select an Excel File
\par
\par Now, I get a box in which I am forced to choose a "table". But the selection
\par list shown is empty. When I try to create a "table" (whereas it is unclear
\par how the field I define relate to the shape I am going to link to the
\par external DB), I get an error message, only.
\par
\par The procedure of linking a shape in an existing drawing is described very
\par detailed at:
\par
\par http://www.quepublishing.com/articles/article.asp?p=329051&seqNum=4&rl=1
\par
\par But I can't get beyond step 7, which is:
\par "7) Select your database file. Choosing a database object to connect to is
\par probably best left at the default settings; same with the object types.
\par Tables and Views should be checked already; Product Reorders should appear
\par in the Database Objects scroll list. Make sure it's highlighted. Leave the
\par Define Table button alone and click Next."
\par
\par My issue is: The "Database Objects scroll list" is empty. I can't click
\par "Next"...
\par
\par Any pointers? Any help is very much appriciated.
\par
\par xirx.
