John I checked HP’s site for this printer this sounds like a driver
compatibility issue. What about printing from another application do you
still get the same results? You can always save the drawing out in another
file format such as jpeg.

Thanks James,.
Yes, I have tried setting paper characteristics in the driver (Windows
printers/faxes; select B8850 set properties), toolkit and Visio. I have
updated Visio 2003 with the latest service pack (SP3 I believe) and even
tried a trial copy of Visio 2007 with the same exact same results:
Test Case I
In Visio:
set printer page to landscape
set drawing size = printer page (or manually set it to landscape)
In "driver" set paper to custom/landscape
Feed paper in landscape orientation (long edge first)
Results: drawing is turned 90 degrees clockwise, i.e. as if it were
portrait, and
of course, it does not fit on the page.
Test Case II
In Visio:
set printer page to portrait
set drawing size = printer page (or manually to portrait)
In "driver", set paper to portrait
Feed paper in portrait orientation (short edge first)
Results: printer halts with resume button/light flashing and driver reports
"paper mismatch"
Systematically tried other combinations where drawing page and paper size
did not match with expected results: drawing was split over two pages. No
matter what I do, either the drawing rotated if in landscape mode, or there
is a paper mismatch when the paper if fed in portrait orientatiion.
Would certainly welcome other suggestions.

Make sure you have the latest service packs for Visio, the operating system
and driver for your printer. Have you tried entering your paper size through
the control panel and not through Visio’s interface? Will other Office
applications allow you to use the custom size without errors?

Hello,
I am using Visio 2003 and trying to print on custom paper (270 x 297 mm) on
an HP B8850 Photosmart printer without success. I keep getting "paper
mismatch" errors and have been unable to receive help from either HP or MS.
Has anyone successfully integrated Visio and an HP B8850 and printed on
custom paper?
More generically, is there a printer compatibility matrix for Visio
published by anyone? I am considering switching to an HP Designjet 90. Any
issues encountered printing on custom paper using this printer and Visio 2003?
Thanks
