Sounds like you have Zoom on roll with Intellimouse checked under Tools /
Options / General tab.

When this is not checked Shift + Mouse Wheel should scroll left and right
(as per 2003).

In Visio 2003 you could use shift/ctrl/alt and mouse wheel to navigate
left/right, up/down, zoom in/out. In 2007, shift zooms in/out, ctrl
navigates up/down and alt also zooms in/out. How do I scroll left/right?

tried just pushing the mouse wheel left or right but nothing happens.
