Clicking "Child has Parent" not doing anything

I am trying to alter cardinalities for a relationship in visio database
diagram.

Currently I cannot change the relationship so that child is zero to one.
There is a check box "Child has parent" that has "optional" value, but when I
check this nothing happens and relationship stays one and only one.

Basically I want child side of relationship to go from 1-1 to 0-1.

Is there some setting I need to change at the document or shape level to get
"Child has parent" to work?
