I created a project that resizes the window, the font in the window, and tracks the
formatting rect (which has interesting effects when the font gets large...)

Back to the original problem: can you please explain what you
are trying to achieve?
Sounds like you are trying to allow the user to grab an resize
a dialog, and in doing so that should change the size of the
controls *and* the size of the font (like some "scale" thing).
Is that the case?
