I never heard of DVD-RAM; it doesn't even make sense as a concept. RAM is Random Access
Memory, and DVDs are definitely NOT Random Access Memory. DVDs amd CDs are essentially
sequential access memory, not even as good as a hard drive for "random" access. Perhaps
you meant you had a DVD-RW drive, which means it can write to a DVD, but that means it can
also read from one.

I checked out Visual Studio 2008 on Amazon.com and noticed on the systemJoseph M. Newcomer [MVP]
requirements it said "DVD-ROM".
My main computer has a DVD-RAM though I have the cartridge which the DVD
disc goes into. The cartridge is able to be opened and the disk taken out
or put in.
Would anybody happen to know if I would be able to slip the DVD-ROM into the
DVD-RAM cartridge and be able to read/install that way?
Thanks
