Hello all,
I was wondering, is there an unmanaged API for using Windows Presentation
Foundation (or WPF-like)?
I'm not sure how WPF-like it is, but here is a tantalizing abstract from an
upcoming PDC talk:
http://microsoftpdc.com/Agenda/Sessions.aspx
---
Windows 7: Graphics Advances
Windows 7 enables you to advance the graphics capabilities of your
applications while carrying forward existing investments in your Win32
codebase, including GDI and GDI+. New enhancements to DirectX let Win32
applications harness the latest innovations in GPUs and LCD displays,
including support for scalable, high-performance, 2D and 3D graphics, text,
and images. Also, learn how to leverage the GPU's parallelism for
general-purpose computation such as image processing.

It does seem this is built into Windows 7, and so it will not be supported
on XP/Vista like WPF is.

Now that makes me wonder why would MSFT do this? Does it not compete
with WPF?
You're suggesting support for legacy applications be dropped?

No. Windows 7 is not legacy. Legacy apps will continue to be work
regardless of Windows 7.

Of course Windows 7 is not legacy.  It's not even currency. ;)

This is OT, but since you seem to be "in the know",

In this case I really have no idea about what Windows 7 is. I was
simply questioning the usefulness of having Windows 7 and WPF going on
simultaneously. MSFT is promoting WPF but then Windows 7 comes along
and makes you want to pause. I may be totally wrong here though.
