Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Some sites may use the real estate that way, but the web invented the
concepts WPF embraced as the FlowDocument and Grid layout containers. There
is nothing equivalent in WinForms, MFC or any other Win32 based API.

I've not needed them personally - though I admit that they may be
useful in some circumstances.

I stand that most web sites just waste screen space.

As for Blend being black, it seems like they were just copying Adobe
Photoshop. Black seems to be cool with the graphic artists

And being cool is a good ergonomic reason for ditching conformance
with how users may want their UI rendered?

Not at all. Check out Blend 2. In the Options menu, you can change the
theme from Expression Dark to Expression Light, which produces a black on
white theme.

Wow, I'm overwhelmed (not) ;)

I can't tell you how glad I was to find that Expression Web 2 actually
has an option to use the proper user's Windows colour scheme rather
than enforce those horrid cool colours at the application level. I
wish the other apps had the same option.

At least in theory, WPF supports high resolution dpi much better than Win32.

Agreed - though I've not seen what happens in practice. Windows (or
many Windows apps at least) haven't traditionally done it too well.
