Size has nothing to do with it.
On a Japanese keyboard, backspace and enter are next to each other. When attempting to hit backspace, a frequent error is to hit both backspace and enter, executing most of the erroneous input that the user was attempting to make a correction to. My wife voiced the exact same complaint to me, and she has very small fingers. So size has nothing to do with it.
Now if someone knows how to remap the enter key and still keep things useful, please say.
