VS2005 from trial version to paid/academic

My trial version of VS2005 Professional expired after 3 months.
However, I have just purchased the VS2005 Professional academic
version.
Is there any way to tweak the trial installation by providing the
new product key? Or the only way is to uninstall the trial
version and install the purchased version from scratch?
