OK, I just wanted it to be clear that the language definition would have
to
be changed for that to even be possible, because if sizeof(char) were to
equal 2, it would not be the C or C++ language per the existing standards.
Which I would like to make clear wouldn't make any difference in many modern
codebases and codebases to be written, and would in fact simplify them a
great deal.
