In my opinion, Linux has more chances to improve in the way users and
developers want, as it's not bound to some company economic interests.

The problem is that until now it mostly improved in the way developers
wanted. The users take a second seat. And exactly because it's not bound to
some company economic interests.

Another mess that I am unhappy with is the Unicode support. UTF-8 is the
lazzy way out, and the file system being "whatever bunch of bytes you want"
is the biggest WTF. And this is (again) what developers want.

Anyway, talking Win vs Linux is an explosive subject, especially on a ms
newsgroup, So I will stop here :-)
