You can check google groups to see if it worksI(posted on the server).
It typically takes few minutes for it to show up on google. I use
google groups most of the time.

What gets me is why every single group on two different machines quit
downloading messages unless I unsubscribe, reboot, and resubscribe. The only
thing that I can think of is the server had problems and sent garbage data to
Outlook Express, and this garbage data somehow clogged up the pipes.
