Can some please point me to an online explanation that summarizes the
fundamental difference between "ATL COM AppWizard" and "MFC ActiveX
ControlWizard"?

A short explanation here will also suffice. :)

MFC ActiveX ControlWizard does exactly what it says: Develop ActiveX
controls using MFC.

Similary, ATL COM AppWizard lets you develop COM servers using ATL.
What exactly is the confusion?
