The debate over this topic seems to be ongoing and very heated. Microsoft
has created lots of opinionated competition even within it's own ranks.

But to
start a new project with C++/CLI makes little sense given how
easy/transparent C# is compared to C++/CLI.
I had thought C++/CLI in VC2005 was completely re-done and was as easy to
use (in fact in some ways easier) than C#. For someone who has so many
years of C++ and none of C#, I would think using C++/CLI would let me
focus on learning the .NET framework while not having to learn a new
language at the same time.
