Locking out student IM etc.

A question came up in the last few weeks about how to write a program that would block
certain ports to keep students from doing IM during class time. I had suggested that such
mechanisms certainly already existed. Check out the Windows IT Pro magazine for December,
2005, page 38. Their Grand Prize, Medium Size Business, Innovator's Award was awarded to
Brandon Jones (brandon.jones@xxxxxxx) for figuring out how to use a Group Policy Object to
manage this problem. Their Web site is www.windowsitpro.com. He has documented his
solution at http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/download/48232.zip
So the mechanism not only exists, but is apparently built into Windows already!
