I recently bought a new computer. The problem that I have is that it
came with the language in French. I now understand that I need to buy
windows xp in engish. So I can change the language.

I also got an express upgrade to windows vista. Would this be in
English and if it was what problems would I have with installing it
on top of xp

I am running windows xp media centre edition version 2002 with xp2
which came preloaded so I don't have any disc's

My computer also came with other programs preloaded that I don't have
discs for what would happen to them when I install windows vista.

So please can someone help

You have posted in the wrong group. This is a group for people writing
Windows software, not for people using Windows. The group you need is

microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup

I can't tell you how to get to it using your browser. However, you can
access it within Outlook Express as follows:

Click on

Tools->Accounts

then click on the Add button and select News.

Follow the prompts in the wizard and enter

msnews.microsoft.com

as the news server.

At the completion of the wizard, you will be prompted to download a list of
newsgroups. Do this, then find

microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup

in the list.
