Are the 6.0 libraries still supported? What's Microsoft's official

Read the license agreement that you got with the PSDK. That is Microsoft's
official position on this.
I know that extended support for Visual Studio 6 / VC6 has been
officially over for quite some time now, but all kinds of software
out there is still using the 6.0 libraries.
Does Microsoft realize what an odd position they have left their
partners and their customers in with this transition?
Yes, I'm sure they do. On the other hand, you've had many months to make
the switch to 2005, and if you'd gotten the pre-release 64-bit libraries
originally you'd have known that the switch to 2005 was inevitably coming.
Now, you just have to deal with it.
